57,000 Young North Easterners Are Not In Employment, Education Or Training

I have been shocked to find that despite all this Government's grand rhetoric about creating jobs and providing education and training opportunities, there are still tens of thousands of young people in the area who have been left behind.

New figures show that some 57,000 18-24 year olds are not in employment, education or training. This, placed alongside the 90% increase in unemployment in North Durham and record youth unemployment, shows that young people have been badly let down by Labour in the North East.

We need to create training places, workplace apprenticeships and ensure that young people's educational aspirations are met. Labor have failed those people it promised to prioritise. If elected, I will focus on ensuring that young people are no left behind and are enabled to fulfil their potential.
