Believe it or not, the scattering of Liberals on the Council has managed to become consumed by fierce internal division. So much so, that they have actually split into two warring camps. Three Councillors have left the Party and will now sit as 'Independent Liberals'. They say that 'irreconcilable differences' are behind the split. This comes only a few weeks after local Liberal Democrats were investigated by their own Party over their conduct during a selection process.
How do Liberal Democrats in County Durham expect the people to trust them when Liberal Democrat Councillors cannot even trust each other? The truth is that the General Election in North Durham will be a choice between Change For The Better with the Conservatives and 'More Of The Same' with Labour.
Liberals on the County Council have proven themselves unfit to run a whelk stall, never mind represent the great people of North Durham on the national stage.
